Mattel Announces New Theme Park in Kansas City

Another huge announcement for Kansas City. Mattel, Inc., alongside Epic Resort Destinations, just announced it will be opening a $487 million amusement park near Kansas Speedway. Mattel Adventure Park promises to redefine entertainment for families and thrill-seekers alike. The park will feature roller coasters, mini-golf, an immersive theater, indoor play arena and a rooftop restaurant and bar. All rides and activities are to carry the company’s top-known brands like Barbie and Hot Wheels.

This will be the second Mattel Adventure Park in the country following a similar attraction in the Phoenix area. Josh Silverman, Mattel’s Chief Franchise Officer, emphasized the excitement of bringing these iconic brands to life, inviting fans to “experience the world of Mattel in all-new ways.”

Unleashing the Power of Hot Wheels and Barbie

Get ready to buckle up and dive into the fast lane with Hot Wheels-themed roller coasters, where speed and style merge to offer an exhilarating ride experience. Imagine the thrill of the Hot Wheels™ Bone Shaker®: The Ultimate Ride and the heart-racing loops of the Hot Wheels™ Twin Mill® Racer, promising an adrenaline rush for all ages.

Not to be outdone, Barbie fans will be transported into a dream world at the larger-than-life Barbie Beach House™. This attraction goes beyond imagination, featuring an interactive retail experience and the Barbie Dream Closet Experience™, enhanced with hologram technology. Plus, the Barbie-themed flying theater and The Barbie™ Rooftop restaurant and bar are set to offer unique experiences that blend dining, shopping, and entertainment into one seamless adventure.

Adventure for Every Age

Beyond the rush of the coasters, the park will cater to families with attractions like the Thomas & Friends: World of Sodor™, offering rides and a dedicated indoor play area for younger adventurers. Meanwhile, Masters of the Universe™ fans can battle it out in the He-Man vs. Skeletor Laser Tag™, set within the iconic Castle Grayskull. There will also be an 18-hole mini-golf course inspired by beloved Mattel games like Magic 8 Ball™ and Pictionary™, alongside a custom climb UNO™ structure.

The strategic move to open the park in Kansas City, signifies the growing appeal of Kansas City on the national stage as a top destination for travelers and new development alike. Kansas City has been on the rise in the last few years with the addition of it new state of the art MCI International Airport, streetcar expansion, and the first dedicated women’s professional soccer stadium. It doesn’t hurt being home to the back-to-back Super Bowl Champion Kansas City Chiefs.
